Guidebook on Pedestrian Crossings of Public Transit Rail Services (TRB, 2015)

TRB’s new guidebook discusses the safety issues associated with pedestrian crossings on light rail, streetcar, and commuter rail tracks. It provides a broad survey of the pedestrian crossing infrastructure currently in use, safety issues that should be considered for different types of crossings, and guidance on how to select appropriate treatments for a given crossing. Case studies provide insight into the process of selecting appropriate pedestrian crossing treatments.
